UPDATE ON CORONAVIRUS

Published March 18th, 2020

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE:

The City of Senatobia continues to monitor the Coronavirus Pandemic. We will continue to update our face book page regarding impacts to the City of Senatobia as this situation evolves.

At this time, all city departments are fully staffed and the city is operating under its normal business hours. Our primary focus is to maintain a safe workplace and encourage and adopt practices to protect the health of all employees, customers, visitors and others. We want to ensure the continuity of business operations while minimizing the threat of COVID-19 spreading in our community.

The majority of the walk-in service is customers wanting to pay their utility bills, court fines and building permits. There are many ways to pay these bills without visiting City Hall or the police department including dropping off a payment in the night depository on the south side of City Hall next to the Police Department and on our website at www.cityofsenatobia.com.

There are also several ways to apply for a privilege license and building permit. You can apply on our website at www.cityofsenatobia.com. Residents or contractors with questions should call (662) 562-4474.

Below are details to conduct city business remotely via phone, drop box or online.

The City of Senatobia is going to do everything we can to join together with the city and county schools, Tate County and the State of Mississippi Health officials to be a good partner as we all deal with a worldwide pandemic. City officials are in contact with the Mississippi Department of Health, the CDC and MEMA.

This pandemic affects our community at so many difference levels. It affects our daily life as we can't help but be anxious about the health issues citizens might face. It has the potential of affecting our work force and families as they decide how to manage childcare if closures of schools are needed and the effects on our economy will be felt immediately.

It is a good public health policy to cancel certain events, but the city encourages everyone to continue to support our small businesses during this time, but please do so responsibly. They need us now more then ever.

Our first concern remains the public safety of our residents. We encourage you to be diligent about washing your hands, cleaning frequently touched surfaces, and covering your mouth and nose during coughs and sneezes. We encourage you to stay home if you feel sick. Although, this virus may not be detrimental to you if you are young and healthy, we need to be extra cautious not to keep exposing others.

We have received numerous questions about cancellations of schools and events. The Senatobia, Magnolia and Tate County School Districts will alert us if school closures are required.

The Mississippi Department of Health has activated the MS COVID-19 hotline to answer questions from the general public from 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Friday. The hotline number is 1-877-978-6453. For up to date info, call hotline or check the MSDH website at //HealthyMS.com/COVID-19.

As of 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2020, there are no known cases in Senatobia or Tate County.
